City and Colour
Comment:
When he's not powering his way to post-hardcore glory with Alexisonfire, Dallas Green likes to test his range with acoustic side-project City and Colour. Strong demand for tracks that had first been made available only at gigs and online resulted in the 2005 debut album Sometimes, featuring the standout single "Save Your Scissors," while the follow-up, 2008's Bring Me Your Love — touted as a 21st-century companion record to Neil Young's Harvest — saw a leaning towards folk typified by the charming, rustic instrumentation on "The Girl." It's in quiet settings like this that we get to appreciate Green's pure, sensitive vocal at its finest and most captivating. The live tracks here (notably "Happiness By the Kilowatt") prove that the singer is just as comfortable in front of an audience as he is in the studio.
