Canvey Island pub rock powerhouse Dr. Feelgood boiled rock 'n' roll down to its basics — a lean, muscular, pile-driving take on R&B that gave no quarter and took no prisoners. Guitarist Wilko Johnson fuelled the engine for the bulk of the '70s — chopping his way through ironclad classics like "Roxette" and "She Does It Right" — while legendary frontman Lee Brilleaux provided an inimitable vocal intensity. Rarely off the road, the outfit delivered spit 'n' sawdust of the finest calibre. Several highlights from the good doctor's 1974 debut can be found in Next Steps.
