Comment:
Best known for his cover of Bread's "Everything I Own", Ken Boothe was the rocksteady superstar whose down-to-earth soulful delivery earned comparisons to Wilson Pickett's. He hit the ground running with his debut single for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's Studio One label, "You're No Good", in 1966, the year of his breakthrough hit "The Train Is Coming", featuring back-up from the Wailers (among whose number was a young Bob Marley). The variety of Boothe's early '70s output is captured in Next Steps.
