Comment:

It is the sounds of the Feinschmecker Teen Center! Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania (mostly the Reading area) frat, garage and pop sounds from 1961-1969. Teen centers, Rod and Gun Clubs, various rec halls for rock and roll delights. Yes there is even a polka band on this. (Polka bands are big in Pennsyltucky). Since these folks moonlighted or shared the stage with the polka sounds, why not include a recording from that era.

See people, PA is a lot hipper than you might think. Apparently, it's a lot hipper than I thought too. Of course, these days are done and PA seems to have damned few fine bands these days.

Great idea, Mr. Casetta! It would be interesting to supplement the A-Z rock snob encyclopedia with some sort of state-by-state guide to rock and roll.

Awesome idea, Tom. I'm glad to hear you've already tossed this on my pile without my go-ahead... :-)

I went to high school in Reading, PA and my entire family still call sit homes, which gives me the authority to to 2nd the teapin notion that you're out of control (in only the most endearing way!). consequently, of course, i would really love to trade for a copy of this...i'll drop you an email.

Sean: I may have a few future editons of Attack Of The Pennsylvanians focusing on different eras, perhaps even migrating towards your end of the state. DJ Usurp: The idea sounds fab. The Rock Snob Atlas would be quite an undertaking and not sure if I want to go down that line. Perhaps I will review the many mixes in the AOTM cataloge and create a "box set" based on other submissions some late night or rainy afternoon. Gerald: Rest assured none of these bands are known. Clearly this is music that was buried alive way down below. (sorry I have been listening to The Lyres)

Who Stole The Keeshka? My god, I played that at a wedding a few years back. It's all coming back to me. I like the idea of a PA box set. Actually, as soon as I transfer some tunes from tape to cd, I plan to put together a "Pittsburgh Pebbles" series. I had planned to focus on late 70s through 80s Pittsburgh pop and punk, though. Lots of truly great stuff like the Five, the Hank Band, and more.

Cool Sean! I will focus on this half of Pennsyltucky. I guess I will see the Cynics, the loud as hell Heretics, some goofballs named the Frampton Brothers, maybe even the Donut People. Now who has dibs on the central PA brats like The Cellar Dwellers, The Left, The Misanthropes, and The Seen?

I've got at least one single by the Cellar Dwellers, the full-length and singles by the Seen,.... probably some Blue Yonder somewhere.

Like Gerry, I can't even pretend that I've heard any of this. But since you're the one who compiled it, I'm sure that it reeks of brilliance.
