Comment:

Nastier than grunge, noisier than a buzz saw caught in a jet engine, and most definitely not teased ’n’ coiffed, alt metal parted the pit somewhere between hardcore, hip-hop, and hell to redefine headbanging — yet again. Talk about your post-breakup anger-management course: after Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst split with his Significant Other, he and his wrecking crew went to work on this sweet little ditty right here. The testosterap of “Nookie” seethes and struts, accusation rolled into confession, tossed out the car window in a drive-by shouting. White Zombie jumped out of Ministry’s aggro-dustrial pulpit, swiped a tube of eyeliner from Alice Cooper, and camped up their walking-dead horror show with a side order of trailer park trash (on acid) to become Beavis and Butt-Head’s sign-of-the-beast sensation with “More Human Than Human.” And if you dropped a jump-suited Devo into a vat of toxic sludge, poured it over Alex and his deadly droogs from A Clockwork Orange, and set the soundstage on fire, you’d have a pretty good mental snapshot of Slipknot’s creep-caked nightmare “Wait and Bleed.” From Deftones to Korn, we’ve got enough alt metal to melt your earbuds — and your brain right along with ’em.
