Comment:
my first foray into the crazy quebec ye ye movement... mostly off cd rereleases because it's really difficult to find the original vinyl. anyway, like a lot of ye ye some of these are translations of popular english songs, and others are originals. the movement took off in quebec for about twenty years, and even celine dion's scary orange manager-husband rene angelil got his start in les baronets... (it's best not to imagine it too closely, but he did have a lot more hair ... and he wasn't quite so orange). anyhow it came mostly out of the small towns in quebec in a brief atmosphere of cultural experiment, but then became almost an embarassment in the 1970s when quebec decided that their own culture was much more important than one influenced by the english. but now ye ye is enjoying a resurgence, and i'm loving it. yay for les miladys, one of the best girl bands ever from canada! yay for tricky translations of beatles songs! yay for setting brown eyed girl in mexico! yay for ye ye! p.s. i'd love to know of any other similar movement to the one in quebec...Feedback:
this seems very cool as I have no idea what any of this is... I'd love to hear this...
This looks swell. Can't wait to hear it.

Congratulations! Well done AND well deserved! (I had a French teacher, back in ...um, the, uh, ok...the '70s...and he'd play us this stuff...happy stuff.)

I hope you don't mind me using this forum to tell you that I finally got your mixes off to Canada today. Oh, and I still think this mix is the cat's meow.
Yeah, I am glad you all like my mix. This is the mix I play when I have hot lesbian sex with my brother's girlfriend and her mom. Ahhhh, wouldn't you like to be there?
Just listened to this en route to D.C. last weekend. It's amazing! How about a second volume? Thanks!
Oops, I never commented on this? Impossible, mademoiselle. So well, I pulled this off the shelf last night and had - well, certainly no hot lesbian sex to it - but a very good time nonetheless. An amazingly funny and entertaining affair . . . so thanks for letting me have it. and, yes, a 2nd vol would be veeeery nice, indeed.
though i have nothing against hot lesbian sex, that isn't my comment ... just someone "borrowing" my name i guess.
