It was one of the great moments of the glam rock eruption: [i]Top of the Pops[/i], 1973 — bassist Steve Priest dressed as a pantomime storm-trooper, frontman Brian Connolly dressed head-to-toe in gold, a roaring tiger emblazoned on his jacket, strutting his way through "Blockbuster" with its air-raid siren, wailing backup vocals, and ear-crunching riffs.
