Comment:

Like any genre, a lot of Britpop is bad, but a lot is also very good, which can't be said for popular american genres like post-grunge. Let's just face it the brits do it better than us for the most part.

oasis and radiohead on the same mix seems wrong somehow.

well i guess i picked the wrong Radiohead song, but at one point Radiohead were quite similar to Oasis because they were both making pop music. Radiohead has surpassed the Britpop genre entirely since then, but even still the two bands were like minded at one point.

some of these songs are quite nice! namely the ones that aren't actually britpop: gorky's, SFA, etc... unless you feel like calling Britney Spears post-grunge because she and creed are both american, that is. anyway this is still a nice mix!

Alexo - Does it matter what you call it as long as you like it?

I suspect not.

Then again maybe by naming things we feel more secure in who we are?

Doug, it's a good mix, just because one can't prescribe all-comers to one genre doesn't stop it being good. By the way I prefer Sun hits the sky by Supergrass, Made of Stone by the Roses, and I'm not keen on OCS. But that doesn't stop it being good! ;-)

Take care....

just a suggestion though--The Divine Comedy is too good to leave out of a britpop mix. Try the song "gin soaked boy"

Interesting mix. Not sure if I'd really describe it as a Britpop collection - Oasis/OCS/Radiohead are more straight ahead rock, while SFA/GZM would be aghast at getting lumped in with the others! :-)

Still, I'd listen to it and love it, so that's what counts!!!!!
