Live Bowie - World of David Bowie
Comment:
Live! On Stage! Hear David Bowie, pop’s perpetually polymorphic phenomenon, undergoing the most amazing audio transformations ever performed without a net! From the troweled-on-eye-shadow-and-orange-spiked-’do days to the Armani- and Patek Philippe-appointed period, he’s treated the stage like the world’s biggest runway, with an ever-dazzling kaleidoscope of images. The legendary ’72 Santa Monica Civic Auditorium concert — Bowie’s first American radio broadcast, and a full-glam slam with the Spiders From Mars — spent more than two decades as a treasured bootleg before its first legit release. During his first official concert recording, David Live, Bowie killed off Ziggy and remodeled Philly soul in his own image . . . as “plastic soul.” In fact, the Diamond Dogs tour was rechristened “Philly Dogs,” and foreshadowed his Young Americans phase. And by 1983’s Serious Moonlight, Bowie had rocketed across the mainstream at A-list altitude, selling upwards of 2.5 million tickets on his Let’s Dance tour. So, instead of merely compiling the best Bowie concert that never was, we’d like to introduce you to Bowie, opening up for Bowie, followed by the headliner . . . Bowie.
