Comment:

One of three tapes, along with "Walt Disney Cannot Make Me Happy" and "No Friend or Doctor," created in early 2002 for an ex-girlfriend who I was hoping to introduce to a lot of great new idependent rock. Sadly, through a few mix-ups, these tapes never got to her.

I tried a few straegies on this tape. First off, never repeating an artist. I blended some similar songs together, especially early in the album, to give flow (although later on, I resisted playing Doves' "Sea Song" after Jump, Little Children's "Mother's Eyes" because they are far too similar, and opted for a different Doves song). I built up the momentum on the first side with rather short songs, and purposely slowed down the pace on the second side after Strokes "New York City Cops" with a number of six or seven minute long songs, to give the second side a distinctly different feel.

I would highly recommend downloading these tracks whereever you can find them.

submarine #3 is an excellent choice...especially as a first track. I was just listening to that song yesterday and planned to put it on the mix I made yesterday, but forgot! Must. Make. New. Mix.
