Comment:

As you may guess, this is the first of what will probably be an on going occassional series. It's your basic attempt at an eclectic mix with flow and a feel. There is a mood here I think, but I'm in no rush to name it. It's mainly instrumental but with a couple of songs. I've always loved the way a song can suddenly pop out of mix; it has to be a song with personality, but I know you can create something special if you frame it right - I don't necessarily know if I've done that here. Later period Tom Waits always sounds off-worldly so he gives you a headstart in that respect, and 'She Moved Through The Fair' was a song that haunted me years ago that I have only just rediscovered. All tracks crossfade. [Cover star is Frederic Burton's "Meeting On The Turret Stairs"]

Tremendously put together, Gary. I don't recognise quite a few of the artists here, but that intrigues me even more! I hope you will put this at the top of the pile for me. For the record, your mixes are both interesting and more importantly, very listenable, and they add a whole new dimension of eclecticism to AOTM. Keep up the good work!

I only know a few of these cuts, but I do know that Tom Waits track is one strange, kick-ass pick, so I'm gonna assume the rest are equally interesting!

Muzag...., a great idea and equally great picks. The Coyote Oldman is a personal favorite for taking me back in time.....Paul Horn would've been right at home on this one, too!

OK, this morning I realised what the mood is so I've added a subtitle, "The Wrong Lips". The mood is, erm, reflective. Thanks everyone for all your nice feedback.

Now this is "mixed genre." Love the Tom Waits and Calexico tunes, among others. Very nice!
