Comment:

A mix with a weird and thorougly uninteresting history. First I wanted to start a folk-rock series. Repeated listens to music of this sort made get tired of it mass doses of it. Next came the 60s pop vocalists idea. Not so hot, as it turned out. Then the very short-lived idea of corny-ass songs - maybe another mix. Finally, I thought I'd start my series of songs I really wish I had written. Some from that list remain (Byrds, Tim Hardin, and more). What we have here is a failure to communicate - or rather, all of the above mixes thrown into a blender yielding a real mess. And yet I like it. Maybe you will too. I like to imagine that many of these songs were played at the office of K records at least once. By the way, some selections were inspired by Gerry McDonald's recent fine selections of older pop tunes. When you examine those tunes, and maybe some of these, it's hard to believe that pop music could have ever evolved into such crap.

Thanks for the kudos, Sean. This is quite brilliant as ever. Lots of this stuff would go into any of my mixes. I particularly like the trax I haven't heard in a while, We Five, Honeycombs, seekers, cyrkle. I don't have to tell you This is top of the must have pile, do I?

I think this is my favorite mix of yours Sean, everything I either love or would really like to hear, arranged in a way that DOES communicate...something! I've felt like putting that Donovan tune on about half my mixes lately!

Sean, you've outdone yourself. This looks absolutely awesome, far exceeding even my expectations as we talked about this idea... I'm glad to see that you kept Lyme & Cybelle, by the way, as I think it could be the absolute archetype for this style. PLEASE get this to me ASAP, my friend.

Dangerously close to my parents record collection! Making them ahead of their time hepsters or a good example of how things go-round. No wonder it took me so long to warm up to the K catalog. Still can't swap my leather for a cardigan. As always Sean, another Rhino-worthy set that I'll eventually need to keep up with the series.

Outstanding collection of hip, happening tunes that makes you want to run through the grass barefoot on a breezy sunny day. (Oh, while we're on the subject of editing, it's Cyrkle)

This actually reminds me of the coolness of old 60's AM radio. Of course I get depressed when I think about it and start humming the Young Fresh Fellows "Searching USA" and feel comforted. "I Can't criticize my elder....."
