Credentials count for a lot when it comes to blues — and by credentials, we mean old-school hard knocks . . . and few men have taken as many as former hobo Seasick Steve (Steve Wold), whose first album arrived a ripe 63 years after he came into the world. He plays homemade instruments, including the Three String Trance Wonder (a guitar that packs one hell of a punch) and the Mississippi Drum Machine (a small wooden box with some carpet on it), and to hear the man storming through "Dog House Boogie" or "Cut My Wings" is to stand in the eye of a blues-generated hurricane. Here, he's backed by Swedish rhythm section the Level Devils (on the tracks from [i]Cheap[/i]), and remixed by Stylus Rex ("Last Po' Man").
