Comment:
Digging a little deeper this time, while still featuring standards. Wanted to include a few dubious choices, to highlight some R&B/country influences. Opening with the mighty Link Wray, a god among men. Wasn't sure about Carl's "Blue Suede Shoes" until I listened to it again and realized just what a friggin' great song it is. So there it is. Dig it!Feedback:
cadillacs, beers, wild women and this CD that's what i want
Another great volume.
Nice stuff all around, Lallo.
This looks as good as the first volume. Fantastic!
Nice one Commodore! and remember: "Not the shoes, baby! NOT THE SHOES!!!" (Tom Waits-"Down By Law")
Great stuff Mr. Lally! I'll be shipping three mixes off to your house tomorrow BTW.
A great looking mix
Love the King Of The Hill quote! Viva Dale...er...Rusty Shackleford.
This is great once again, Sean and I'll want this one too. Excuse me for being pedantic, but wasn't Uranium Rock on vol one?
lotta great stuff here , I can't wait for it. I agree with you on the blue suede shoes thing, just when you thought you've heard it enough times, you hear the carl perkins version and its like a brand new song, its the same way with thats all right mama. I like elvis but carl just plain kicks it
Looks awesome Sean. I look forward to hearing this one along with volume 1. Whatcha want for a trade ?
Gerry is, of course, right. The mistake, however, is that "Uranium Rock" is NOT on volume 1 - rather, that's "Ubangi Stomp". "Uranium Rock" is on this disc. Damn those Warren Smith songs starting with U! I made the correction on the other playlist. Take note, those of you with volume 1 (Greaseball, Lo-Fi, Rob, etc.).
Y'know, Sean, you *can* edit mixes if you've made a mistake... ;-)
VERY cool, cat! I never get tired of Blue Suede Shoes. In fact, somebody ought to do a Sam Phillips tribute mix. Some of the blues and country he recorded is fantastic as well. By the way, what happened to the title track?
Franklin, the title track from this one is on the excellent vol 1!
True enough. I couldn't decide on the title for the first volume - it came down to those two titles, but I love the Gene Vincent song too much to wait until volume 2 to include it.
this looks really great ... and i love the title!
Yah! Go, Cat! Go!
