Comment:
So this is my version of the survey-style mix (using the antbabe template) that's been cropping up on the site lately (I made only an abbreviated version of this list sans the Jackson Browne, New Order, Natalie Imbruglia, Ween, and Little Feat tunes while substituting the Lemonheads' version of "Different Drum" for Mr. Nesmith's). I'm not going into any lengthy explanations here, but there are a few that need a comment or two: 1) My favorite movie (Taxi Driver) doesn't exactly sport a "songs I love" kind of soundtrack, so I changed the question to "like" and included my favorite song from the film; and 2) I try to avoid clubs at all cost, so I changed the "clubs" question to "your local watering hole" (even though I don't go to bars much, either)--I *always* play that Buzzcocks tune on the Gooski's jukebox (not only a great song, but a *long* song, so more bang for yer buck). Otherwise, that's about it.Feedback:
very nice... I love that Replacements song...
You should try putting it down on disc...in a really odd way, I think this works really well.
oh i prefer OV Wrights version of "how strong..." but i love your pick of Buzzcocks, this serie is fun maybe i should try to do it too
Not bad bandwagon boy, and yes you should commit it to compact disc. When else are you going to have Natalie Imbruglia on a mix? Love the Superchunk pick.
Loads of great tunes here, Rob. I especially like the Natalie Imbruglia and Mike Nesmith pix.
I'd do something like this myself were it not so damnably difficult-looking. Ho well. Just have to thoroughly endorse your choice of moshing song while I'm here...
nice one rob. i wish my local watering holes had jukeboxes damnit! unfortunatly, we're subject to listening to ms imruglia and the likes
natalie imbruglia ? it was sabotage by Beastie boys when i looked
I changed several of these throughout the day, Peter. I like "Sabotage" more than "Torn" as a song, but the gap between my appreciation of the "Torn" video and the tune is much greater...
yeah you're right about that, how many artist have recorded "Torn" before Natalia made it a hit ? 3 ,4 ?
Excellent choices all around. I wanted to use the Iggy Pop & Replacements tunes in those slots myself...I'm with everyone on the "Torn" choice too, gotta love that video.
heh heh heh ... more insight into the twisted world of mr. conroy. the a.f.r.'s almost finished with their profile, boy, and next this you know you'll be waking up under a giant shot glass. (rob, if you don't know what the hell i'm talking about, go read _infinite jest_ already.)
