One of the most unusual success stories in the annals of Latin music, Rodrigo y Gabriela became a worldwide sensation with a series of acoustic guitar jams that liberally drew inspiration from both Tomatito and classic heavy metal. Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero met in their native Mexico City and moved together to Dublin, Ireland, where they played pubs and were eventually discovered by Damien Rice, who invited them to tour with him. The duo's dazzling technique and effortless musicality brought a unique spark to their acoustic, guitar-only cover versions of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion."
