Comment:
I've just begun a fascinating (and slightly emabarrssing) trip through some old cassette mixes that I somehow managed to hold on to over the years. This one is from the summer of 1991 when I'd graduated from high school. Several things reflected here: dating a girl who was heavily into the Smiths, apparently not being able to go 45 minutes without hearing "Asleep," seeing Jane's Addiction at Great Woods, taping a favorite from my father's vinyl before leaving for college (Mark-Almond). Surprisingly few cringe-worthy songs for a ten-year-old mix, with obvious exceptions (wtf was I thinking with Kansas?). I have no idea why I put "Asleep" on there twice, unless I really couldn't go 45 minutes without hearing it.Feedback:
There is no shame, my friend, no shame.
Actually, the one weird thing I noticed about this (besides, er, the aforementioned Kansas track) was your choice of "Made of Stone" as a rainy day track, since I always thought no song has sounded more like the rain to me than the Roses' "Shoot You Down."
And now I'm off to dig through old tapes I made in 1991.

know what you mean with "asleep". i went to the same thing after splitting with my girlfriend in 1987. that's fair enough. i ask myself how can anybody listen to the smith when in a good mood anyway?
This looks like a lot of the stuff I was into back then, too, especially the Smiths. Like you, don't know about the Kansas, track, though! I think I'd be too embarrassed to put a mix of stuff I was listening to back when I graduated HS! (in 1983)
