Comment:

7.24.02-this is a protest mix. i protest the merging of the genres rap and rock unless it is done in the correct fashion. thus they are distinctly limited to separate sides of an equal tape. i protest because fruitful intermingling is possible, but has only recently been realized by a select few artists. the end.

Musical segregation...hmmm...why doesn't the PMRC do something about THAT! Splitting them on either side of a tape isn't a bad idea, but they can be fused. Hell, 'Lil Ghetto Boy sounds like a fucking TRAFFIC song for God's sake! Then there's The Animals' "Year Of The Guru," which is the earliest form of rapping put on vinyl that I've heard, at least as far as vocal candence is concerned. Oh, and integrating the two won't lower the resale value of your mixes! ;-)

a footnote: this is just a trend in my mixtapes, not an actual political statement. thanks :) and i really do think the mix of genres can be done well, but lately i've seen too many abuses of the privilege.

i'd like to be the first here to comment on the actual contents of this mix. i feel the need to show my support for young mc's 'bust a move' as it was likely the very first rap song i remember hearing. we used it to play musical chairs in the 2nd grade. those were the days. as usual, fritz, a very nice mix. and excellent cuts from great artists all around.

good dynamite hack pick. it's always good to see someone picking something other than, "boyz in the hood"
