David Essex is an ageless jack-the-lad of all musical trades, and master of them all. The man's astounding versatility can be heard in the opening tracks of this glance back over four decades in showbiz, as he saunters casually but confidently from the hits on his 1973 debut album, [i]Rock On[/i] (including the brooding, self-penned title track), to his broad pop smash of the early '80s, "A Winter's Tale", via the [i]Evita[/i] musical smash "Oh What a Circus" from 1978 (Essex played Che).
