Comment:
As far as I'm concerned, he's the man, one of the most expressive and versatile guitarists alive. Rolling Stone called his solo on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" one of the top three rock solos of all time. Over 3,000 sessions as a studio musician with Steely Dan (played many of the classic solos), Joni Mitchell, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand, Bobby Bland, Ray Charles, Joan Baez, Herb Alpert, BB King, Michael Brecker, Stanley Clarke, Steve Lukather, Al Jarreau. 20 solo albums. 2 Grammy Awards (1987 and 2002). Retired in 1977 as N.A.R.A.S Most Valuable Player because he won too many years in a row. Member of the Crusaders for six years, now a member of Fourplay. Equally at home on electric and acoustic, but BEST on Gibson's ES335 hollow body, his signature instrument. Shot in the neck by a random attacker in 1988, with a long period of recuperation and therapy. His production judgment of his own material is not always the best, and I ain't exactly crazy about Fourplay's music, but he's a player's player who has inspired countless guitar fanatics.
Feedback:
very cool. Larry sure kin pick't!
I'd have to agree with lugnut here. I, in general, am into extremely obscure guitar (Fripp/Gabrels/Tollefson, Roach etc) but Larry boy can play...and that Kid Charlemagne solo is up up up there with the greats........nice mix.
