The Tracy Chapman tale doesn't end with "Fast Car" and "Give Me One Reason." Beyond the hits lies a world where folk, rock, blues, and soul swirl together under the sway of a voice that could make a statue cry and a snowman sweat. We defy you not to feel that Sunday-morning spirit when Chapman leads the congregation with a heavy dose of gospel soul on "Say Hallelujah." She lays the timeless tribulations of war, poverty, and loneliness out in front of her on "Why?," attacking them with such soulful force that when she sings "somebody's gonna have to answer" you [i]believe[/i] it.
