Comment:

i'll probably get my arse kicked by a lot of the older AoTM-ers for this one, but this is how me, and people of my age remember the 80's. this is the music our older siblings played while they studied for the good ol' HSC, and the stuff that was on the radio in the supermarket, and early morning rage. yes a lot of this is crap, and yes there was some decent stuff made in the 80's, but for an 80's themed 18th birthday party I think this tape will make a delightful gift. thanks much to nic for her stash of crappy 80's girly music and bill for his encouragement and tape-age of my brother's vinyl to tape. title from escape club song. i can't remember the name of the ACDC song- oops. and no one could remember whether that gurus song was the 80's or the 90's- all agreed it was "cool" enough for this mix.

this brings back memories of primary school discos in the school gym that finished at 6pm so the big kids (the grades 5 and 6ers!) could have their disco. Nice.

Uhh... I like the Split Enz and Vapors tunes... *strains for something better to say about this era in general* ;-)

It's sad that it took people 15 years to recognize the brilliance of New Kids on the Block. They were like the Velvet Underground of the 80s. Nice mix, although there's a few songs that never got airplay in the States.

yup, i'm one of the oldies on here, but that doesn't mean i don't appreciate some of the stuff on here, esp. the bangles and split enz. and the cyndi lauper song reminds me of listening to my uni's radio station in the early-mid 80s.
