Comment:

Okay, this is sort of a Break Up album... except its a year after the break up, and I don't really intend to give it to the person with whom I broke up. This mix tape sort of follows the theme of having been alone for a year, and looking back, reminding yourself why the relationship didn't work, but still questioning whether it should have ended or not. I haven't actually laid this down on CD yet, (I think the time roughly clocks out at 80 minutes, so one of the tracks may need to go), but I have figured out the mix concisely, in terms of flow and transitions. The transition from Tracks 6 to 7 goes back to cassette tape mixing, where when one song ended abruptly when transitioning into another song, I would use a song that starts abruptly to mask any stray sounds from the end of the first song. I wanted to include something off disc one of Unwound's "Leaves Turn Inside You" on this album, but it just never fit... well, "Look a Ghost" probably would have, except I intentionally only used songs that I have never used on mix tapes before (though I'm sure songs like "Get a Room" and "Deed to Drugs" will turn up on future mixes). Alternate titles for this album: "You're Late For Your Funeral," "It Had to End," "Fall on your Ear," "Something Has Died." Of course, all the titles come from lyrics of songs contained on this tape. I almost always title mixes that way. If you like some of the artists on this album and haven't heard of the others, I seriously suggest you seek them out.

this looks good. you've given me the idea to do one of these for my ex-to-be - although he wasn't just a boyfriend - he was my husband. only problem, though, is that he still checks out my mixes.

This is a great mix from what I can tell. I've heard about half the artists on here and am now curious to hear the other half. Also, it'd be interesting to see how the narrative actually unfolds since I don't know 50% of it. I still think you should give him/her the mix. I almost always do because the other person may appreciate it just as much.
