[i]Baile funk[/i], also known to fans as [i]favela funk[/i] and [i]funk carioca[/i] is a form of Brazilian electronic music hailing primarily from Rio de Janeiro. Deeply rooted in Miami bass and freestyle music, the genre has found wider appeal thanks to the American producer Diplo, who's credited with introducing baile funk into the music of his now-famous associate M.I.A. One listen to the percussive dance floor-friendly beats of the underground party anthem "Injecao" will more than reveal where M.I.A. found the inspiration for her subsequent hit "Bucky Done Gun."
