For my best friend who loves Dashboard and laments her childhood for the repercussions of its lack of musical education. A little something to amuse the palate.

You know what, once you get past the Dashboard Confessional (sorry, I just think that guy represents everything that is wrong with music!) there are some pretty good cuts on this mix!

I'll agree that Dashboard Confessional is a good poster boy for the bad side of indie rock (namely, emo). It's still nice to see artists like White Stripes, Badly Drawn Boy and Death Cab For Cutie on here... especially such a great Death Cab song.

Agreed with all comments so far. Less Dashboard Confessional and Saves the Day; more Mirah, Sloan, Self, and Pedro the Lion.

Why do people hate Dashboard so much? Because he's so blatantly likeable? That's silly. Head-bobbing and singalongs are a time honored tradition, and the man keeps them alive with his pretty face and voice. Nothing wrong with that. It's not always cool to be uncool, folks.

old 97's, mirah, ryan adams, death cab, white stripes, and jimmy eat world, all bands i like a lot, but... ummm... there's just something a little upsetting about the fairly corporate feel of this disc. plus it's not really indie. it's more alt. country and emo.

Riiiiight. Well. Next time I'll be sure to put some Andrew W.K. on there, and some Hives, and the Strokes and everything else that's getting overplayed and eaten up on MTV (corporate what?). And some Bright Eyes and Desaparecidos and Moldy Peaches to PROVE that I'm oh, so indie. Because, you know, yeah.

sounds like somebody's a little defensive about their self-applied "indie" label.

I'm sick of people that have only known of DC for like this past year pretending to be cool-- I've been listening to them for over 4 years now and it pisses me off the people think they know everything when all they lisen to isthe stuff that is repeatedly played on MTV.

I agree with the last post. Besides did they ever play any DC song other than Screaming Infidelities on MTV? That's not even one of their better songs in my opinion.
