Comment:

I started with the book, wrote down every song i noticed being mentioned(including the ones that pissed HT off), then picked up all the things from the movie soundtrack that either sounded cool or seemed to fit, including a couple that were in the movie but not on the album. After a little adjustment, the above CD appeared. For the true effect, you'd probably have to alternate this cd on random with a cd of nothing but Stuck Inside of Mobile and One Toke Over the Line, but that would be a bit much. Dark star got shoved in the middle because it seemed as good of a way as any to represent the whole "Adrenochrome" incident, not to mention the San Francisco flashbacks.

Truly inspired. I never managed to see the movie, but the book is one of those things I've reread at least annually for two decades now, and this really does seem to capture the flavor of the whole thing.

Whoa, popkulcher! You're the guy whose webpage got me into Big Star and the Replacements! So, yeah, I think you're cool. On topic: the movie really is a worthwhile rent. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are great, and while it's not as lucid as the book, it's not intended to be: they want to you feel as wasted as the characters, and it succeeds marvelously.
