Comment:
A pretty thorough chronological mix, perhaps disproportionately weighted towards the Spiral Stairs b-sides but, hey, that kinda made it interesting and upped the catchy pop quotient. I suppose if I did it over again I might add a token song from the post-breakup Steven Malkmus and Preston School of Industry albums, but, nonetheless, I think this pretty well sums up the career of an incredible '90's indie band.
Feedback:
i'm liking this popk. pavement were a band i struggled with in the beginning. i could tell they were good but i had a hell of a time wanting to listen to them. know what i mean? its only been in the last few years that i've developed a sincere appreciation for what they were all about.
Terrific. Love the band, love the mix!
i think i lost intrest in them at the end of the nineties, maybe i need this mix, it looks really good
I nice mix, although I would have probably included another track or two off of "Wowee Zowee" and "Terror Twilight" and maybe one of the b-sides off the "Trigger Cut" single. Oh, and "Price Yeah!" I wouldn't make a Pavement mix without that. But still, this is a great, great Pavement mix. And if you do and some post-Pavement material, I would lean towards Preston School of Industry.
there goes Rob the knob again...
Okay, so about half of these picks are on Volume 1 of Rob Conroy's "Pull Out the Plugs and They Snort Up the Drugs I" (in the same order, of course, since they are both chronological)... I think it's coincidence. Most of the songs in common are the "greatest hits" of sorts.
Oops... didn't see Rob's mix. I've been trying to avoid duplicating some of the more well-trod artists. Though I do enjoy showing off my artwork, which often takes longer to make than the actual mixes.
as a relatively new pavement listener (indiesnob rockers beware), i recognize a few tracks and i appreciate your effort, duplicated or not by monsieur conroy.
Looks good! I appreciate the poppier side of this band more than some of the slow atonal stuff they've released over the years. And yes, your covers are always outstanding. I can relate to your comment about the artwork taking longer to make than the actual mixes!
Rob: I knew exactly where you were coming from, so you don't have to worry 'bout me. Actually, given the fact that I (like presumably many people here) have a hard time finding too many people who share my tastes, I don't mind at all when someone points out the amazing overlap between our mixes. Especially when the usual reaction to most of the bands I like is "Dude! You suk! Zeplin kicks ass!" I'm sure one of these days I'll upload my Teenage Fanclub anthology, and you and a few others will point out its remarkable similarity to the ones you've already posted, and I'll have a brief shining moment of vindication.
This is pretty good but I feel like it needs an extra song from Wowee Zowee like "At&T" or "Grounded" to make it a bit more complete
nice but no pavement mix is complete without "Range Life."
Funny, my two favourite Pavement tracks, Range Life & Father To A Sister of Thought don't appear here or on indiesoc's similar mix. Also i imagine tk 11 is a typo & not some undiscovered(to me) reworking of Cut Your Hair?
