27 years ago(August 9th 1975) Dmitri Shostakovich, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century,
died shortly after finishing his last masterpiece, the Sonata for Viola & Piano op.147 -
this mix includes excerpts from his work during the years - he wrote his op.1 when he was young student at the age of 13....

This looks good Michael, I only have a few chamber works by Shostakovich but I really like them. There's so much emotion in his music, even though he had to tip-toe around the Stalinist censors of the time (what is that one 'A Reply To Just Critisism' or something like that?)Nice work.
