Comment:
Continuing my exeriment of mixing the aritsts in my CD collection in alphabetical order, which can be difficult when you have to follow The Hives with The Innocence Mission. Still, this is a solid mix, though too long for one CD (clocking in at approximately 97 minutes). Though, as weird as it might be to say, this is probably the weakest part of my collection alphabetically, in my opinion. While I love a few of the artists, like The Hang Ups and The Glands, many of these artists are the ones I don't listen to particularly often. Let me know, since this anthology offer the chance, if there are any artists you think are missing from my collection. Admittedly, though I am big on the current indie rock scene, and am always looking for more picks in that variety, I hardly have any CDs that date before 1991. I've also recently sold off so CDs of more mainstream artists like Beck, Nirvana and STP since I'm in a little bit of debt (and since I barely listen to the more mainstream CDs anyway). *************************************************(ARTISTS ADDED TO MY COLLECTION SINCE MAKING THIS MIX: The Fairways, Faraquet, Felt, Field Mice, Fiver, Fonda, 14 Iced Bears, French Kicks, Frisbie, Future Bible Heroes, The Galactic Heroes, Galaxie 500, Gomez, Great Lakes, Micah Green, David Grubbs, Darren Hanlon, Heatmiser, Hefner, The Helio Sequence, Ides of Space, The Incredible Moses Leroy, Interpol.)Feedback:
no cds before 1991? boy you're missing out on a lot of great stuff. if you've got a turntable, the best place to look is in used record stores. nice gorkys, go-betweens (if you like this album, you must buy their earlier stuff), and hang ups (another great band) picks.
I agree with Sue. You're missing out on some great stuff, but you're taste in current music is quite good IMO. Nice Go-Betweens and Juliana Hatfield picks. Check out the latter's work with the Blake Babies if you ever get the chance.
More good stuff, although there are a few on here I don't know. Oh well. Aren't we all still learning? You definitely need some Gomez and Guided by Voices here though. And I've got a soft spot for the Gin Blossoms' first album.
Gomez and Guided By Voices I've heard and I've sorta liked both of them, but I've never been compelled to buy an album. I should figure out which of the million GBV albums is considered the best and try it out. But, as soft as your heart may be, I'm not picking up the Gin Blossoms, ha ha (though I'll admit, some of the bands I like are probably worse).
