Comment:
Hmmmm, what to say about this one...well, it was nearly too contrived & clever for it's own good. Yes, there's a big concept behind this one but don't let that distract you from the music...after all, there's a happy ending. It's intended to be biographical rather than autobiographical, everyone is welcome to their own interpretations. To lighten the proceedings there's "ein musikalischer Spass" or two in there (sticking Zero 7 between Air and High Llamas between The Beach Boys). But there is a storm at its heart. [COMPETITION TIME: A free copy to the first person to guess the main source (track or artist) of the thunder used to make the storm].
Feedback:
This looks really wonderful, especially the Massive Attack through Beethoven section. I think I may need a copy of this. Let me know if you're up for a trade. Oh, a guess...is the mystery track "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks?
Hey Curtis, yep I'd love to trade again soon, I need more mixtures of noise!Garth Brooks, eh? So you obviously don't want a free copy :)
Great stuff, Gary. I must have a copy of this. Love the doors, beach boys and dusty.
Hey, you said to guess right? Right? And that Garth Brooks song has a perfect rain intro, it's only redeeming quality in fact ;-)
Dissolved Girl, is like the best song. My signature song.
Great mix,Gary!
We should trade for it...
We should trade for it...
Nice one Muzag.., trax 12-15 is inspired and a "sweet spot" at the heart....., how about the storm provided by James..?
Valis: Nope not James I'm afraid.Think less in the quality of James and more towards the standard of Mr Brooks...but more obscure...and less inclined to wear big hats...and more inclined to produce instrumental albums (but not exclusively)...
Philip Glass...?
Great stuff.
I'm guessing you used the intro to Riders on the Storm by the Doors for your rainstorm, but the instrumental albums clue means I'm probably wrong. How about Vangelis?
*** We have a winner! ***Ion Moe, it's the start of Soil Festivities by Vangelis.Let me know your address & I'll pop you a copy in the post (and if there's anything else you'd like...)
Oh yes, excellent mix by the way!
Cool! That was just a wild guess. I'll e-mail you when I get home.
and by the way, i want this, trade some day ?
Congrat's on a well-deserved "Mix of the Week"!!!
Congratulations on Mix of the Week Gary. Should of pulled the trigger on that trade and be the mad rush, eh.
How fabulous of you. :)
Umm, make that "beat the mad rush." Grrrr.
Congratulations Muzag! Once again the Beach Boys are well represented on a Mix of the Week.
Wonderful!
pretty. congratulations.
My God, you're pretty prolific, man . . . and just churned out another one I need to have. Please feel free to choose from mine.
This is fantastic! One of the most beautiful mixes I have ever listened to.
