Comment:

A careful blend of bubblegum, novelty songs, guilty pleasures, and other joyous celebrations of mediocrity. I tried to avoid overlapping with my Worst of the 70's compilation, and limit it to songs I'd actually (occasionally) want to hear. I know, it's not really fair to compare Ohio Express with Nilsson, but cheesy is cheesy. In a perfect world, cdr's would be long enough to accommodate a few more Sweet tracks; the Archies and the Bay City Rollers would receive the Rhino/Rykodisc remastered box set treatment; and the youth of America would once and for all give up today's crappy teenpop and recognize Neil Diamond, schlocky ballads and Streisand duets aside, as the ultimate paragon of inadvertent coolness. Now, having spent the last few days immersed in this, I need to run out and pick up the new Sleater-Kinney to cleanse myself. Title and cover (loosely) adapted from the old Circle Jerks classic.

Any mix with "Cherry Cherry" gets my seal of approval! I consider "bad taste" and "cheese" different entities entirely but maybe that's just me.

Oh my god!!! I LOVE this! Especially the Harry Nillson pick, "Me and my Arrow", talk about your guilty pleasures. Every track is a gem, nice job!

Nice mix! But I could live without the cover (although it does fit the mix!) I'd love to see more Ohio Express reissues as well. They were one of the few bands to successfully mix psych and bubblegum.

Nice. I'm sweet on Sweet as well, though I have to agree w/Ion: the cover is a little too John Watterish-"Pink Flamingoes" for me! Then again, I wish I had "Yummy Yummy Yummy" for my Famous People Make Easy Targets mix...oh well...

I really love this mix, so I really hope it's not bad taste... Let's call it 'interesting' or 'unique' taste...
