Before hitting it big on her own, Dido sang with Faithless ("No Roots"), a trip-hop outfit helmed by her brother, producer Rollo Armstrong. But if electronica is an element that suffuses much of Dido's solo material — witness the ambient altered states of "Stoned," or the lonesome soundscape of "My Lover's Gone" — she's no mere studio creation, a truth borne out beautifully by a live recording of "See the Sun" that's every bit as vital as her album work. In Dido's sure and talented hands, everything from melancholy heart-tuggers ("Burnin Love") to one-off holiday tunes ("Christmas Day") sound unmistakably like . . . Dido.
