Comment:
A quick all-Cake mix I threw together this afternoon for my friends to check out before we hit the Unlimited Sunshine show tonight in Boston. It's a real quick job, and I'm not as familiar with the last two albums as the first two, but I think it will sound good anyway. Major hits dispensed of first, personal favorites saved until the end.
Feedback:
Haha! Awesome! I've always loved Cake's stuff, and I have to say the first album is my favorite. The newest(fourth) one was slightly disappointing to me, but, you can't expect them to stay the same forever.
Oh, I *so* want to go to that show! I think my radio station isn't gonna come through with free tickets for me. Such is life. Good stuff here!
Follow up note: I'm sad to say the show was a massive fucking letdown. Cake rocked, natch, but they went on late and consequently played a scant 45-50 minutes. They did go 5 for 6 on my opening mix tracks, though (and 3 of 4 on the closers), which made me think I did an decent job on this mix.
"stickshifts and safetybelts" is *the* ultimate driving song. what a classic. great mix.
hey, i was at the boston show. cake didn't play anything good for the first 10 minutes so i left. de la soul, modest mouse, and flaming lips ROCKED.
stickshifts and safety belts and of course the distance both bring back fond memories of the old cross country teams...wonderful!
