Bloc Party
Comment:
If you like your rock razor-sharp and artful, you're gonna love Bloc Party. The British outfit got its break when enterprising frontman Kele Okereke managed to foist a CD on Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and influential DJ Steve Lamacq at a 2003 gig — both men were suitably impressed by the material, some well-deserved buzz was generated, and things moved rapidly from there. This comprehensive primer plunders the best of the band's work from its first three albums — the pleasingly raw Silent Alarm (2005), its more densely layered follow-up, A Weekend In the City (2007), and the club-friendly Intimacy (2008) — and for good measure we've thrown in remixed single "Blue Light," and some live session work ("This Modern Love").
