Comment:
To give you an idea of the eras that continued to collide in 2005, Snoop Dogg asked Justin Timberlake to duet with the Gap Band's lead singer (Charlie Wilson) on "Signs," a Neptunes production that bobs and weaves its way through wobbly funk licks, hasty horns, and subdued synth lines. The rest of our Deep Cuts keep you on your toes, too, as we switch from the smoothed-out R&B of Kem, Marques Houston, and Keyshia Cole to the club-clobbering hip-hop of Three 6 Mafia, 50 Cent, and one of Dipset's leading mic-slayers, Juelz Santana. We dare you to sit still while dodging the brassy loops and click-clack percussion of "Mic Check."
