Comment:

First off, let's dispense with the widely held perception that suggests that a nine-month Mozart diet will magically transform your kid into some kind of übertoddler. Not true. What science does tell us, however, is that babies seem to prefer sounds they've heard while in the womb, so we've put together a tot-tailored list of all-time greats spanning four centuries, from Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Serenade in G Major, K. 525: I. Allegro" to Dave Brubeck's "Take Five." The lab coat brigade also suggests that learning to love music early may influence kids to pick up a musical instrument, which actually does promote brain growth. And, hey, you've got only this one shot at what is quite literally a captive audience, so why not give them the best? Even if your child doesn't grow up to be the next Isaac Newton or Maria Montessori, at least you can put him or her at the head of the class, musically speaking.
