This is a mix of some of the better bands I saw live in the second half of this summer. Thanks to valis for the name.

Oh, stellar. I saw them as part of the Unlimited Sunshine package tour w/Modest Mouse, De La Soul, Kinky, Cake, etc. They had these balls full of confetti that they kept tossing out to the crowd-- they'd bounce around like beachballs but eventually they'd burst and shower confetti over everyone around them. There were also dancers in animal costumes, a fog machine, and a giant video screen.

This one is on its way to you too, by the way (in a couple of weeks, I'm still waiting for that Bailer CD to come in the mail)...

Excellent! I'd heard the show in St. Louis was fantastic as well....

Ooh, we've got another Minnesota AOTMer here! I SO wanted to go see that Beck show. I heard that Breeders show was good too.

Yeah, Beck was great. He did a totally amazing version of 'Nobody's Fault.' The Breeders show was probably actually my least favorite of all the shows I have listed but I wanted to use that song cuz it's so rockin'. They fucked around way too much in between numbers, mostly talking and laughing about inside jokes. They still do a mean 'Cannonball,' though!

how do you like the idea of Beck with the Lips as both opener AND backing band?

I like it! But I have to miss it as I'm going to be on the east coast when the tour kicks off in Minneapolis on October 17th.
