Comment:

Not only do Quentin Tarantino's senses-assaulting films force you to completely rethink your relationship to songs you've loved all your life, but sometimes they also inspire a love affair with tunes that would've never crossed your path otherwise. If you never heard the Coasters' steamy, salsa-dipped "Down in Mexico" before, you'll never forget it after you've seen it inspire Vanessa Ferlito's hotter-than-100-jalapenos bump-and-grind in Death Proof, which also invited us to "Hold Tight!" with Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, the oddly named British Invasion band whose fame never quite crossed the pond back in the '60s. And Tarantino's tastes aren't strictly yesteryear either — Kill Bill, Vol. 2 was most folks' introduction to the shamefully overlooked, dreamy pop noir of Shivaree with the sleepy, sinister, sexy "Goodnight Moon."
