Comment:

This mix has its origins in my long, hot, impoverished summer. As you can tell all the songs are about money or the lack thereof. I thought the various "Diamonds" songs along with the George Carlin "advertisements" would help further solidify the mix. Though Carol Channing is kind of scary she really fits well into the overal context and theme. The title comes from a line in the Liz Phair song at the end. If anyone else has any good "poverty" songs or stories let me know....we could create a sort of anti-Horatio-Alger theme package. P.S. I changed the title just now at the last minute (or even after that) b/c I forgot about the other great quote from the same Liz Phair song.

this is gonna totally crack you up, but if you've ever seen that video for "Money Changes Everthing" and a girl runs up on stage and hugs Cyndi Lauper, that's me.
