Comment:
This is a mix from my buddy Gorilla Pimp. He's going through a bad time so he's listenung to a lot of punk and old country. Three chords and honesty... The perfect cure for a heartache.Straight to Cambodia
Punk MIx July 2002
Notes:
This mix is essentially composed of some of the punk, proto-punk and post-punk that I've been listening to this summer. It's arranged more or less chronologically, and the aren't separated because I thought it flowed better that way. There is a noticable presence of Dead Kennedy material here. What can I say? I fuckin hate Ronald Reagan. Sadly, I had to cut an '84 DK live version of 'Riot' that I thought would be perfect. It ends with Jello chanting "Tonight's a blast! Tomorrow you're homeless!" Awesome. But that's not on here. Instead we get some of the classics by all of these bands.
Check out the Voidoids two cuts on here, especially 'Blank Generation'. I also like Johnny Thunders's 'Chinese Rocks'. Richard Hell might be playing bass on that track(I'm not tellin). My favorite Replacements song is included here too. The Iggy Pop number takes a slight dip as
far as sound quality goes, but this is a punk mix anyway, so fuck you. Speaking of punk, as I write this I can hear the 1983 classic film, Mr. Mom, in the background.
Terri Garr and Martin Mull=Real Punk.
The rest of these tracks are all pretty straight forward, well-known songs. The disc ends
in regal style with the beatific rants of Wesley Willis. Hope you dig it....
