Comment:

Made this tape for my friend Mike, who, like myself, is on the verge of turning 30. Rather than dwell on the friends we've lost to the dreaded indie rock and reformist politics, I decided to put together a compilation of the bands and songs that keep us excited, inspired, and involved. Volume One, as you can see, is primarily melodic, anthemic, sing-along material. Good for long drives to see a show two states over or drunken summer porch sitting. Volume Two, should I get around to making it, will have a harder edge to it. Less melody, more rage. More for thrashing about the kitchen while cooking vegan tacos or riding bikes really fast. Up the punx, indeed. Notes: 1. Jesse has Frankie Stubbs from Leatherface on vocals. It rules. 2. I'm not normally into the Bouncing Souls, but this raw, compilation version of Quik Chek Girl rocks. 3. Fuel is the classic Ebullition band, not the whack alterna-rock group. 4. CBDS has St. Patrick from Dillinger Four on vocals, as well as Aaron Cometbus from Crimpshrine, Pinhead Gunpowder, and any number of other bands.

This is what WKDU sounded like when I was 14, thank you for reminding me of so many great bands. I can't remeber the last time I thought about Flux of Pink Indians. Wow.

A tape that contains at least one Civil Disobedience song is automatically a good tape. Hey, stay punk!
