Comment:

some weeks ago i was mix editor and i pick Jody beth Rosens Tanz parti for the mix of the week and i got really inspired by that one and suddenly i noticed that all the music from New york in these days sounds like 1981 and that was a marvellous year for me , I was 18 and just start Djing at a rock club in this town, this was some of the stuff i used to play and when i watch it now i can see it was hell of a party year that one

Wonderful Peter. This looks pretty close to my '81 with the addition of maybe X and Wire. Nice mix.

Great stuff, Peter. Of course, in '81 I was only 16, so I wouldn't have been old enough to get into the rock club you dj'd at, but I would've tried to sneak in...As for Naomi Watts - she's dating Heath Ledger (from Perth) who's 10 yrs younger! Hooray for her!

Nice nice nice.
"Everything's Gone Green" would sound great in any year, as would most of the rest of this mix.

Great stuff Pete! I was assembling a '81 mix also, after being shocked to read that Lester Bangs returned a blank Village Voice critics poll that year 'cause he said there was no good music. Man, maybe I was especially susceptable at the time, but I long for the depth of stuff from '81. Only things I mighta added are Black Flag, The Sound, Rip Rig & Panic & Bow Wow Wow.

that was pretty cool of Lester, but i don't think he was right as you see maybe Jim you could do a vol 2 and should also included Grace Jones, Talking heads from that double live album and maybe Grandmaster flash adventures on the wheels of steels

Funny that you mention Grace Jones & Grandmaster Flash. I was considering both, but decided to only use things I would've known in '81. The concept's shelved for the moment. Mood passed & alot of my picks seem to be here. Maybe someday while experiencing some mixer's block I'll pick it up again.
