Comment:
As much as the public seemed to want it to be so, Frank couldn't be everywhere, so here are some of his fellow stars whose names showed up on all those other marquees. And where better to begin than with his fellow Rat Packers; where Dean Martin is as cool as a martini shaker in the bemused rumination of "Ain't That a Kick in the Head," Sammy Davis, Jr. sets the desert on fire in a blazing version of "That Old Black Magic." Former teen idol pop 'n' roller Bobby Darin set his sights on a Frank-sized career with the swinging, brassy "Beyond the Sea" (which later served as the title and theme for his 2004 biopic). And Ella Fitzgerald (who, like Frank, was a singer's singer) pairs with longtime Sinatra arranger Nelson Riddle in a feather-light frolic through Johnny Mercer's "Something's Gotta Give." From Nat "King" Cole and Chet Baker to Rosemary Clooney and Keely Smith, we've got the guys and dolls who were ring-a-ding-dingin' the stages and airwaves right along with Ol' Blue Eyes.
