The Fray
Comment:
As fast as things move in today's music business, few modern-rock bands have caught on fire quite like the Fray. In just over a year, they went from being Denver's "Best New Band" to clobbering the charts with their major label debut, How to Save a Life. Its pristine, piano-led singles — the title track and "Over My Head (Cable Car)" — were inescapable in 2006, earning GRAMMY® nominations and platinum sales numbers when they weren't soundtracking hit TV shows. By early 2007, Life had become the best-selling digital album of all time, slipping right past one of the Fray's clearest influences, Coldplay. And, well, things haven't slowed down since, as the group's self-titled second album debuted at #1 on the strength of such heart-tugging tracks as "You Found Me" and "Absolute." Better get a crate of tissues — these minor-key maestros aren't going anywhere.
