It's more than just that big, blue voice that made Patty Loveless a country music institution — her real musical superpower is an uncanny ability to completely [i]inhabit[/i] songs from all across the emotional spectrum. On the rockin' "Wicked Ways," she leaps out breathing fire and wreaking vengeance on the sorry sucker who did her wrong. But that fierce, fools-for-breakfast filly turns out to be an old softie, too, turning sweet and sentimental when she casts her memory back to "The Grandpa That I Know." And when she jumps in with both feet for a classic-style country duet with Vince Gill on "My Kind of Woman, My Kind of Man," well, let's just say you'd find more dry eyes in the house at a Visine factory.
