Comment:
The first of many mixes made for a cross-country road trip with my wife during the summer of 2000. We drove from Washington, DC to LA on the way to moving to Hawaii, and I made a mix for every state. Each mix contains a combination of songs obviously about the town (in this case, the Magnetic Fields track, for example), songs by local artists (Trans Am, Velocity Girl), songs that have personal relevance to our lives together in the place (for example, we saw exellent shows by Lauryn Hill, Liz Phair, and Yo La Tengo in DC), and, in the case of places like DC where I couldn't find enough material, filler. If you like, you can read about the trip at http://www.dankois.com/roadtrip/.
Feedback:
Very interesting stuff, the entire series.
