Comment:

While everybody celebrated the new millennium at the dawn of Y2K, it really didn't happen until 2001, and, for so many reasons, it was a year none of us will ever forget. The Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association couldn't agree on the Entertainer of the Year and picked Brooks & Dunn and Tim McGraw, respectively — both good choices. But it was the events of September 11th, and a single song — Alan Jackson's "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" — that defined the state of country music as a nation mourned. From rising stars like Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and Trick Pony to superstars like Reba McEntire, Travis Tritt, and George Strait, we've got all of country's best and brightest sounds from a year that had the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between.
