Comment:

No, the world didn't end, the power grid didn't shut down, and we weren't visited by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as we bid goodbye to 19-everything and partied our way into 2000. But that doesn't mean that, in the country world, big changes weren't afoot. Montgomery Gentry broke Brooks & Dunn's eight-year streak as the Country Music Association's Best Vocal Duo, and the Dixie Chicks got promoted from being the CMA and ACM award-winning Band of the Year to being both country organizations' consensus favorite as Entertainer of the Year. And from future stars like Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, and SHeDAISY to superstars like Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and Vince Gill, we've got the sound of country in Y2K covered, from the Great White North to the Land Down Under, and everywhere between.
