Comment:

a brief intro to punk via the most accessible, catchy type of tunes for my friend Amy. Amy is well-versed in "indie rock" from about 1996 to the present, like many young kids I meet. Unfortunately, she has almost no familiarity with much music of any kind before that time, again like a lot of kids. When she invited me to "co-dj" her friday afternoon college radio "indie-rock rotation" programme, I decided I'd give a little history lesson. Catchy punk seemed more likely than, say, afrobeat or 20's folk or 40's r&b to entertain the indie hipsters, so that's what I picked. Amy gave me 47 minutes, and this is what I played. We got a lot of phone calls during the show, all positive. My faith in the young ones is restored ; )
