Comment:

ok i know it's been a while and i owe you all some mixes, but life got real hectic and i had to disappear for a while. Now that that is out of the way, this mix is for a seminar i am giving on british indie pop on thursday for assistant programmers at WRUW. i realize that there are a few stretches here (MBV and joy division) and that the Go Betweens are australian, but their first release was on the postcard label, which is one of the labels i am featuring in my seminar. enjoy.

christ, this rules! josef k + orange juice = brilliant. and extra props for the last track -- which i'm not familiar with -- if only for the shout-out to patrick mcgoohan.

i guess this brings forth an end to all the death theories... great to see you back again. another fantstic mix. the go betweens were always more loved in britain than in aussieland.

Didn't you guys see that article in the onion about the disasterous Yo La Tengo show? I BARELY survived. Oh and Sue and Rosie--you are the only people who are actually awake during my show--it's a 5am on Thursdays, which if I remember correctly is something like 7PM Thursday in your neck of the woods. Or is it friday? http://www.wruw.org--Look for the Cream of Broccoli Radio Hour.

Welcome back Brandt..., the conjecture was assuming legendary proportions re: your absence. As you're a mere 75 miles away I may set the alarm clock in the morn' to take in some Cream of Broccoli for breakfast....seems like a healthy start to a day. Rather outstanding lineup, start to finish here...I shall face east at 5am. (Check out LCC Poserlad's mix for the madcap musings.)

Brandt, you can tell the truth. In the effort to rendur yourself heir to my music collection you attempted what waas thankfully a failed cuop. The legal representation of Conroy Esq. struck a deal which allowed for your release. How was I to know that forcing you to listen to nothing repeated playings of Julie London singing Yummy Yummy Yummy violated international law?

My God! I'm so happy to find out that you're actually okay... Sean, lo-fi and I honestly thought you had died or something (no kidding) and were kind of worked up about it. Now I know that I can get in touch with you again the next time in the Cleveland area (I was in Canton yesterday)... Welcome back to the site, and great mix!

well then lo-fi should be happy on two counts--1.) that i'm still alive and 2.) i put the shop assistants on this mix...

Brandt? Alive? I think not. I'll bet this is Cob Ronroy is disguise! Sure, putting TV Personalities seems hip, but these are lies - all lies! (Welcome back, hoss.)

Welcome back, man! This looks like the kinda UK indie comp I'd be all over in the mid-80's. Still hoping to live long enough to see a Postcard 7" CD collection someday.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your name listed on the 100 most recent submissions. I thought I had accidently done a search for Mates of State! ;) Anyway, It's GREAT to have one of our best and most prolific mixers back in the limelight. We were honestly concerned about your sudden departure. Hope this outstanding mix is the first of many. Happy to see you didn't sell your Shop Assistants CD...

Brandt, I will try and listen to your show (although not this week, as I can't as I'll be preparing for my radio show on Thursday night) - for me, in Western Australia, unlike Rosie, in Eastern Aus., it's on at 5pm Thursday nights, or 6pm next week, after you guys change your clocks - for some reason, west australia doesn't believe in daylight savings time so we don't change our clocks at all. How long is the show for?

A Top notch mix. I haven't traded with you yet, Brandt, because you disappeared just as I was emerging on the AOTM scene. It's a wonder Rob, Sean and the guys never thought of me as you in disguise. I wouldn't put it past them! :-). That would be a compliment. In any case, if you want to trade with me, just mail me and we can set something up when you have a minute. nice to see you back.
